- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan.
- Make the cake base:Mix melted butter, cake mix, and 2 eggs.Press this thick dough into the bottom of the pan.
- Make the cream cheese topping:Beat softened cream cheese until smooth.Add 2 eggs and vanilla.Mix in powdered sugar until creamy.
- Pour topping over the cake base and spread evenly.
- Bake 35–40 minutes until the center is slightly jiggly.
- Cool 15–20 minutes, then slice and serve.

Room-temperature cream cheese blends smoothly with no lumps. Cold cream cheese ruins the texture.
