The Presto 06857 is the pan we kept reaching for. Its 16-inch surface (15.75 by 11.87 inches) runs on a 1500W element. It held steady heat across most of the pan through weeks of hash browns, seared chicken, and one-pan pasta. The corners ran slightly cooler than the center, visible as lighter browning on hash browns cooked at the edges, so we kept the food we wanted crispest toward the middle. The Control Master heat control tops out around 400 degrees and held its setting without wild swings.
What sets it apart is the design. The foldaway handles let the pan detach from the base, and the base nests inside the pan, so it genuinely cut the storage bulk in our cabinet. Cleanup was quick because the pan is fully immersible once the control is removed. One honest caveat: the PFAS-free ceramic nonstick wears with heavy daily use, and near-daily cooks may replace the pan every year or so. Skip the dishwasher even though the maker allows it, since the uncoated aluminum exterior discolors in there.
