Presto Cool Touch Electric Griddle 07047 Review: Is It Worth It?

On a busy Saturday morning, a griddle that forgives a late pancake flip and wipes down fast is exactly what a hungry family wants. The Presto 07047 is a 10 1/2 x 16 inch ceramic nonstick griddle with a cool-touch base, and in our kitchen it earns its counter space for small and mid-size breakfasts. It is not the right pick for a big crowd, and we say why below.

If you are weighing it against bigger models, our electric griddle and skillet reviews cover the wider field.

4.3/5

We confidently recommend this griddle to busy parents and rate it 4.3 out of 5; we would buy it again for quick breakfasts and sandwiches for two to four people. It reaches about 350F in roughly three minutes, pancakes did not burn even when flipped a few minutes late, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth. The main drawbacks are limited capacity—three or four pancakes fit comfortably, while six are a squeeze—and a handle that tends to fail first.

  • PFAS-free ceramic surface
  • Slide-out drip tray for bacon and burger grease
  • Slim enough to store in a drawer under pans

How We Tested the Presto 07047

We buy and judge appliances by how they handle a real family week: rushed breakfasts, full dinners, and kids reaching for them. For this griddle we looked at heat-up, evenness, what it cooked without sticking, and how fast cleanup went.

We kept the griddle on our counter for busy Saturday-morning family breakfasts. We ran it through pancakes, eggs with bacon alongside, french toast, hash browns, grilled cheese and burgers, and we watched how each one released from the surface.

Presto 07047 Key Features

The heavy cast aluminum base is virtually warp-proof, and the front and sides stay cooler than the cooking surface. That matters in a house where small hands reach past the stove, though cooler does not mean cold, so we still keep kids off the cooking surface. A backstop ledge along the back keeps batter and grease where they belong, and the slide-out tray catches the drippings from bacon and burgers.

The detachable Control Master dial sets the temperature. The dial and cord are bulky, so leave extra drawer space for both. The ceramic coating is PFAS-free.

How It Performs in Use

On our Saturday-morning runs we poured the first round and the surface held three or four pancakes with room to spare, with bacon sharing the far end once we spaced things out. A flip that came a few minutes late still left golden pancakes rather than burned ones. A bigger family cooks in rounds, with the next batch going on while the first stack keeps warm.

Heat is even with no noticeable hot spots when you give it ample preheat time, so the tip below is worth following. Some units do show cold spots in the center or a temperature that does not match the dial, so expect some unit-to-unit variation and treat the numbers as a starting point.

Tip. Give the griddle a few extra minutes of preheat before the first batch. A longer preheat is what evens out the surface.

Grilled cheese, burgers, hash browns, eggs and french toast all released without sticking.

Cleanup and Care

Cleanup is where this griddle shines, with very little to scrub compared with a frying pan. Because the base is fully immersible with the heat control removed, you can also wash it in the sink when something sticks. We have no confirmation that it is dishwasher safe, so we hand wash.

Warning. Never immerse the heat control. Use soft utensils to protect the coating.

Presto 07047 Compared With Other Presto Griddles

Presto sells several close cousins. The Presto 07030 Cool Touch Electric Griddle review covers the 20-inch version, which adds length for a little more. Our Presto 22-inch electric griddle review and the Presto Ceramic 22-inch griddle review look at the larger models, and the 22-inch ceramic 07061 costs roughly twice as much.

Is It Worth the Price?

It is one of the cheaper ways to get a PFAS-free ceramic griddle with a cool-touch base. If you routinely feed a bigger group, step up to the 07030 for its longer surface or the 07061 for its 22-inch size and removable handles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Presto 07047 covered by a warranty?

A 1-year limited warranty is listed for this model, but we could not confirm the terms on the manufacturer's page, so check the box or listing before you buy.

Can I make okonomiyaki or sandwiches on it?

Yes. It handles grilled cheese and is also used for okonomiyaki, since the flat ceramic surface releases savory pancakes and toasted sandwiches alike.

Does the 07061 handle the same way as the 07047?

No. The 07061 has removable handles with latch clips, while the 07047 keeps a fixed handle, which is the part to treat gently.

Will the cord and heat control fit in a drawer?

The griddle itself is thin enough for a drawer under pans, but the cord and heat control are bulky, so they take extra room.

Final Verdict

If your household outgrows the 07047, the 07030 is the natural step up for extra length, and the 07061 suits cooks who want a 22-inch surface that fits most 18-inch cabinets once the handles come off.
