About Dana

Dana came to reviewing the practical way: for five years she ran a small meal-prep service from her home kitchen, cooking sixty to eighty client meals every week. At that pace, gear either keeps up or gets replaced, and she went through enough containers, sheet pans, and prep tools to know exactly which ones earn their space.

At Mr. Kitchen Adviser she tests meal-prep and storage gear against a full week of real cooking for her family of five, and she treats "healthier" marketing with a working cook’s skepticism. When a brand claims its air fryer cuts oil or its containers keep produce fresh for two weeks, she runs the claim in her own kitchen and reports what actually happened.

Her guides focus on the unglamorous gear that makes healthy eating stick: containers that survive the dishwasher, appliances that cut prep time, and tools that make vegetables the easy option on a Tuesday night.

How I test. Every container, prep tool, and appliance gets a full week of real batch cooking: five days of meals, repeated dishwasher runs, and a freezer-to-reheat test. Gear that warps, stains, or leaks does not make the list. Read more about our testing process.
